A little bit about me...

Hello! My name is Hannah Petersen. I have been a photographer since 2019 and an artist since 2021.

My main drawing medium is pencil, graphite and some colored to enhance my work. I do also work with acrylic, watercolor, marker, and pastel. My style is realism, I love to watch my work come to life on paper. A drawing is a really special way to memorialize a person, pet, or land. To me and many, it is the best way.

I was the sole photographer at a wedding, reception, and rehearsal dinner summer of 2023 at the age of 16. I love taking walks and drives with my camera always looking for something beautiful to capture. I am especially passionate about photographing wildlife.

I've won hundreds of dollars and many ribbons competing with my art and photography at various fairs. I've placed against adults in art shows. Last year, I entered over 60 items and placed on every single exhibit. I won many high places such as first place, superintendents choice, reserve grand champion, grand champion, and judges choice. This year, I entered over 130 items winning countless ribbons and was in five different local news papers or news. I was even being talked about on the biggest country music station in the area!

I have been homeschooled my whole life. During my sophomore and junior year, I took PSEO. I graduated this spring with my certificate in business foundations. I plan to again take PSEO my senior year and graduate that spring with my AAS degree in business, administrative certificate, and accounting certificate.

I love all things outdoors. Camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, biking, skating, and riding ATVs to name a few. I also am a huge animal lover. I'm sadly allergic to pretty much everything with fur, but that hasn't completely stopped me from hanging out with fuzzies every so often. My family owns a hobby farm with Nigerian Dwarf goats and they are one of the coolest animals to raise.

Despite the wicked cold weather we get most winters that makes me wonder why us Minnesotans stay, I do love my location. Bemidji is a beautiful quaint town and its hard to beet our falls. It really is a beautiful place to live and a perfect place to photograph.

As said, I love photographing wildlife and nature. Something as simple as a tiny mushroom or a frost touched branch can look stunning under a macro lens. I've always had an eye for photography and it killed me to see things and not be able to capture them, so my first big investment was a digital camera when I was 12. I haven't quit since.

I Love my work, there is nothing more special or rewarding than capturing happy people, and making people happy. Weather its being with an elated bride getting her hair and makeup done for her wedding, or drawing a portrait for a couples wedding anniversary, its all equally special.
